What we do well

Year-round berthing

We keep the pontoons clear and the electricity running through polar night. Berths are available on monthly, seasonal, and annual contracts.

Diesel and petrol fuelling

The fuel dock is open daily from 07:00 to 20:00 in summer, 08:00 to 17:00 in winter. No pre-booking needed for fuel.

Haul-out and hull work

Our 35-tonne travel lift handles vessels up to 15 metres. We schedule haul-outs on Tuesdays and Thursdays; book at least a week ahead.

Preparing your boat for winter storage around Tokyo Bay

Winterising a boat in Tokyo Bay is not the same as winterising one in Bergen or further south. Temperatures here regularly drop to -15°C or colder between December and February, and the covered storage building, while insulated, is not heated. The steps below are what we recommend to every vessel owner before the boat goes on the hard for the season.

Sailing out of Tokyo Bay in summer: what the conditions are actually like

Summer sailing around Tokyo Bay has its own rhythm. Long summer daylight means you can be out on the water well into the evening, which is genuinely useful. The wind patterns are different, the fog comes in quickly, and the tidal currents in the narrows are stronger than many visitors expect. This is a practical account of what to expect.

Marine diesel servicing: what gets checked and why

Most boat owners know they should service the engine every season, but fewer know exactly what that involves or why each step matters. This is a straightforward account of what Tanaka checks during a standard inboard diesel service at Arctic Marina, and what tends to go wrong when it is skipped.

Selected items

The chandlery is stocked for the boats we actually see here: coastal cruisers, fishing vessels, and the occasional larger yacht passing through on a northern route. We carry what gets used, not what looks good on a shelf. If something is not in stock, we can usually order it within two working days from our supplier in Yokohama.

Who you are dealing with

Founder, Established since 2011

Kenji Sato

Kenji Sato grew up in Yokohama, spending summers crewing on his uncle's fishing vessel before completing a maritime operations certificate at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology in 2003. He spent eight years as a harbour master's deputy at a commercial port in Bodø, overseeing vessel traffic and berth allocation for everything from coastal ferries to research ships. In 2011 he left that role to open Arctic Marina on the Tokyo Bay waterfront, wanting to run a smaller, quieter operation where he could actually know the boats and the people behind them. He keeps a 28-foot sloop of his own in berth 14 and sails it most Sundays when the weather allows.
